This is an introductory high school level course covering the basic concepts and applications of modern chemistry. It is designed to provide a background for life skills in an age when science is

increasingly involved in everyday life. As well, it provides a sound foundation for those going on to college level courses. Matter is the “stuff” that we and everything around us are made of and chemistry is the study of the composition, structure, and properties of matter. It is through an understanding of chemistry that the products that have benefited society were discovered, and technologies to sustain the environment were put in place.
